Most of the difference between a good visit and a disappointing one is settled before anyone climbs a ladder. Here is what to pin down.
What a solid visit includes
At a minimum, a good visit empties the troughs along their whole length, removes or bags the debris, and confirms the downspout outlets are open. Ask any gutter company, including us, whether the price covers disposal and whether they will tell you about damage spotted on the way, such as loose hangers or a sagging run. We point out what we see; we do not do roof repair or gutter installation.
Photos before and after are a reasonable thing to request, and they spare you from climbing up to check.
Questions worth asking
- Is the price for the whole house or per linear foot?
- Does it include flushing the downspouts?
- Do you work from a ladder or from the roof?
- What happens if rain interrupts the visit?
- How do you handle a gutter that is already damaged?
